MUSIC LEADER LEVEL 1 (Key Stage 3, years 7-9)
Aims for learners:
Explore diverse music forms, from classical to hip-hop; understand leadership and musicianship principles; learn to plan and deliver an effective music experience to peers.
Gains:
- Foundational skills in music and leadership
- Confidence and desire to continue studying music (e.g. Music Leaders Level 2, GCSE, RSL, BTEC Level 2).
Time required:
15 hours teaching, 15 hours self-study.
MUSIC LEADER LEVEL 2 (Key Stage 4, years 10-11)
Aims for learners:
Lead a full music session with local primary schools or community groups.
Gains:
- An alternative or additional award to music GCSE.
- Advanced leadership skills.
- Deepened musical expertise.
- Skills for further learning and employment in music or leadership.
- Transferable skills for learning and leadership outside of the creative sector.
- Confidence and desire to continue studying music (e.g. Music Leaders Level 3, A-Level, RSL, BTEC Level 2)
Time required:
30 hours teaching, 30 hours self-study.
MUSIC LEADER LEVEL 3
Currently under development through consultation with educators, music specialists and young people.
